Onion Pakoda and Onion rings recipe for this rainy season!

Image result for Hot and crispy pakora imagesOnion Pakodas are most favourite snack for almost everyone which can be made easily in 10 to 15 minutes. When sudden guests came to home this is the first choice of every moms.
South Indians generally add both basin flour and rice flour to prepare pakoda but in foreign countries, they cut the onions in round shape and dip in a paste of maida and soda water and then fry. This is also tasty and yummy.
  • 2 cups of onion (cut and sliced into thin long pieces)
  • Finely chopped green chillies – 2
  • Asafoetida – ¼ teaspoon
  • Chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – to taste
  • Basin (split gram powder) – 1 cup
  • Rice flour – 1 cup
  • Baking soda – 1 pinch
  • Finely chopped curry leaves – half-handful
  • Oil – to fry


Mix all the ingredients in a bowl without water to form a uniform mixture. The water released by the onion would be enough to make the batter. If required, a little amount of water may be added. Make small pieces using the fingers, Fry deep in the hot oil.
Onion pakodas are ready – Enjoy with tea
2nd Recipe – Crispy onion rings:

  • 2 cups of onions cut into circular pieces
  • Maida (all-purpose flour) – 1 cup
  • Soda water – as required
  • Salt – to taste
  • Pepper powder – ¼ teaspoon
  • Oil – to fry
Take a bowl add maida, soda water and pepper powder and make a paste without any lumps. Dip the cut onion rings in this paste and deep fry. Crispy and tasty onion rings are ready- enjoy with tomato sauce.
